Well where do I even start with this one…
While I was away Lady Mary Charteris got married in the picturesque county of Gloucestershire at her family home, Stanway House.
Now with Daphne Guinness as her aunt, it was a pretty safe bet that Lady Mary’s wedding dress would be anything but conventional. No duchess satin gowns for this girl. With a wedding guest list that reads like the front row of a Chanel catwalk presentation you know it’s going to be one hell of a fashionable affair.
The heiress, model and DJ wed singer Robbie Furze – frontman of The Big Pink – last Saturday in a dress by Pam Hogg, the London-based designer better known for spray-on catsuits and breast-baring harness/dresses than she is for bridal wear. In fact, if asked to imagine a Pam Hogg wedding dress I wouldn’t even know where to start. But one was made, and even more surprising, it was worn!
The dress in question features satin panels artfully placed over the bride’s breasts, hips and shoulders, with a sheer panel revealing her belly button and most of her midriff. Layers and layers of silk tulle made up the skirt of the dress. She accompanied the gown with a veil, a floral headpiece and Nicholas Kirkwood heels.
I’m all for the saying ‘If you’ve got it, flaunt it’ but still…. this looks a bit much.
As well as the bride’s glamorous aunty Daphne Guinness, attendees included model siblings Cara and Poppy Delevigne, Georgia May Jagger with mum Jerry Hall in tow, musicians Florence Welch and a pregnant Lily Allen, and actors and former flames Jaime Winstone and Alfie Allen.
