[Walk in the Jurassic Park]

There is one designer who I’ve been keeping my eye on since spotting her stand last season at London Fashion Week and that is Sophie Hulme. When is comes to Sophie’s collections, I’ve got my style spotting down to a T, and before the presentation even started, I had snapped a number of the fashion elite carrying Sophie’s Tote bags. The distinctive look of marrying hard metal against soft leather seems to be an absolute hit in the accessory department and Sophie’s stuff is already stocked in Selfridges and Liberty’s even before her first on-schedule presentation.

So what did we have in store for us this season? If the invite was anything to go by, I knew I would be happy….I’m a lover of dinosaurs (weird I know).

To my utter delight, walking into the Portico Rooms at Somerset House, you were met by this chap…. a giant, mirrored, T-Rex. Onto a winner, right?

The dinosaur theme was echoed throughout the presentation in the form of cute pendents, belts, motifs and most impressive of all, specially constructed dinosaur lace. The collection boasts of stunning mohair jumpers, eel skin bags and incredible contrasting jackets. It’s got Sophie’s trademark all over it, smart and sleek, with tailored trousers cut to the ankle and fair isle dinosaur knits in muted shades. The outerwear on show was pretty fabulous too, heavy wool coats in autumnal neutrals teamed with girly fuschias and leather diffusing the well-cut masculine silhouettes.

This season Sophie has also collaborated with Globetrotter, to make a capsule collection of suitcases. With Sophie’s hard-wear and the Globetrotter shape, these bags are sure to be best sellers for the travel clubs.

As with every season, a charm accompanies each purchase. This AW, it will be a brass dinosaur – what more reasons to you need?!
