Going off on a bit of a tangent for today’s blog post – it’s all about the food.
On Saturday night I was treated to an incredible three course meal at the Cote Barasserie in our new home-town.
Starting with calamari to share, we then both chose steaks for a main course. The other half went for a rare rib eye with a beautiful béarnaise sauce and crispy fries, while I opted for the Christmas steak from the special menu. The boy was definitely enjoying his steak, until he tried mine and I think food envy took over. My medium-rare steak was cooked to perfection. It was tall, mounted on top of potato puree with shallots and a red wine ‘jus’. Honestly my description doesn’t do it justice at all, I never wanted to meal to end.
For dessert (lucky me!) I opted for the vanilla ice cream with warm dark chocolate sauce, or the ‘Coupe Noire’ as they like to call it – surprisingly not as sickly as it sounds. It really was just melt-in-the-mouth kind of goodness.
Cote as a whole is a really really good restaurant. It’s elegant, informal and has a kind of buzz to it that you would expect from a modern Parisian bistro. The staff were all attentive and friendly, they had clearly eaten absolutely everything on the menu and gave really good honest opinions to help with the desision making.
All in all, I would highly recommend visiting a Cote restaurant near you. You definitely will not regret it!
