Bit of a random one today, a blog about my delightful weekend in the sleepy town of Deal, in Kent. My uni friends and I have a bit of a pact since leaving (all those years ago) – every few months we all get together and go for a weekend away somewhere random that we have never been before. After uni everyone parted ways, moving all over the place, so these mini breaks have become our ‘thing’. We have Ciara (@CiaraDolly) from Northern Ireland, Kyley (@kyleydodd) and Becky (@RScott3) from London, Laura from Surrey and Leti (@lcocks) from Somerset, all coming together every couple of months. They are some of the funniest girls you could ever meet, a laugh a blooming minute.
So this excursion took us to the sleepy seaside town of Deal – near Dover in Kent. For the weekend we rented a lovely little place called Shingle Cottage. I would highly recommend Deal as a little retreat. The cottage was divine and the town was super cute. It’s remained delightfully un-commercialised with its quaint historic housing once the haunt of Kent smugglers. The terraced holiday cottage is situated a stones throw the beach, antique shops, pubs and restaurants – Perfect.
Deal has some great little antique stores scattered around offering the finest pre-loved bits of furniture for next to nothing, I will definitely be popping back to furnish my house, the price difference compared to London and Surrey was bonkers. In fact everything in Deal was cheap as chips….even the chips! We ate like kings, drank wine and laughed pretty much constantly. It was such an amazing weekend – check out the pics below.
